Noy Composer

Assaf Noy was born in Israel on July 1977. His Bachelor and Masters Degrees were accomplished at the "Rubin Academy of Music" in Jerusalem. In early 2008 he participated in a Master class instructed by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies at the royal Academy of Music in London. His compositions move through different affects and genres, and explore vast musical landscapes from allusions of Jazz and Rock through religious spiritualism. His music has been described as: "works filled with imagination, adventurousness and intensity". He won several awards, such as the prestigious "LIEBERSOHN 2008" Prize, the "WHITE NIGHT 2006 – International Composition Competition" Prize, the "HANAH YADOR AVNI – 2008 award" and many more. His piece "TABUR" (Umbilicus) has been selected by the Israeli Composers League to be preformed at the 2009 "ISCM SWEDEN" festival.

Assaf Noy also received numerous scholarships; among them are the "TED ERISSON SCHOLARSHIP", "ISRAELI COMPOSERS AND PUBLISHERS SCOLARSHIP" (for 2 consecutive years), "RABINOVICH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP", "DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP" and a commission from the "MEITAR ENSEMBLE" for an original piece (2007). His compositions include various chamber works, works for chamber choir and also for chamber orchestras and symphonic orchestras. These were played by some of the top orchestras and musicians in Israel and abroad, such as the soloists of Bucharest's "George Enescu" philharmonic orchestra, the "MEITAR ENSEMBLE", the "TIROLER ENSEMBLE FÜR NEUE MUSIK (TENM - Austria)" the "CAPRISMA ENSEMBLE", the "PERCADU" (Percussion duo), the "PARADIGMA DUO", the "ISRAELI SINFONIETTA BEER SHEVA" and many more.

Assaf Noy is now a PhD scholar in Bar-Ilan University after winning the prestigious "President's Scholarship" for the next 4 years
